About the school

Our Mission Statement

At our school we aim to provide the best possible education in a friendly, secure and caring environment. We value the uniqueness of each child and seek to foster in them a love of learning, an appreciation of beauty and a consideration of others.

Ingatestone Infant School is a small school in a rural setting situated between the villages of Ingatestone and Fryerning. We seek to work closely with our partner Junior School, a five minute walk away. We are also actively involved in village activities, examples of which are hosting the annual Fireworks Display which is open to the local community and our participation in the Summer Horticultural Show. At present we have 133 children in five classes, two Reception and three Key Stage 1 classes. Most of the children come from the village and parents are very involved and supportive.

We have six experienced teachers and a high ratio of teaching assistants. We enjoy the privilege of being able to share our expertise with future teachers and really benefit from the fresh ideas and enthusiasm the students bring.

We have a well resourced school in large grounds and in recent academic years we have upgraded our computer suite, our class computers, added a 16 laptop and I-Pad trolley all networked together. There are smart tv's in each classroom, adventure trails, a multisensory area and new kitchen with multi-purpose room which at present houses our breakfast and after school clubs.

In June 2011 we formed an educational trust with Ingatestone and Fryerning Junior School, The Anglo European School, The Anglia Ruskin University and The Chelmsford Star Co-operative. By working together we wish to ensure the children at the schools receive a seamless educational journey with an additional and exciting global dimension.

In our latest Ofsted inspection, carried out in December 2011, the school was judged to be outstanding, as a result of the whole school community working together to ensure our pupils enjoy an outstanding educational experience.
