During the year we cover a variety of units of work, these include;
- Instructions
- Fiction and non-fiction texts
- Poetry
We use a wide variety of texts and other media which suport our afternoon subjects also.

Speaking & Listening
We develop our speaking and listening through drama, talk partners and reading together.
Writing
We use a Talk for Writing approach to writing which engages the children with a hook for each new unit and uses lots of talk to prepare children for writing experiences.

Mathematics
We learn all the basic skills needed for mathematics and develop our problem solving skills. During the year we cover a variety of units of work, these include;
- Number – number and place value, addition & subtraction, multiplication & division, fractions.
- Measurement
- Geometry – properties of shapes, position & direction
